- According to creator Craig Black, Latrigg's surname was derived from a street in Liverpool, the sign for which he spotted during a trip to that city in 2014. His decision to make the character Northern stemmed from his discovery of a mountain in the Lake District which shared the same name.
- Producer Jordann Edwards has posited the idea of Latrigg being voiced by Tara Strong (being a particular favourite of his). However, creator Craig Black has been vying instead for Su Pollard (of Hi-de-Hi fame), who he feels would be more able to pull off Latrigg's Northern accent.
